Whiteside County Economic Development Administrator, Betty Steinert is happy to announce that the updated Whiteside County Greenways and Trails Plan and Map has been completed.  The process identifies the natural and man-made resources to link parks, nature preserves and cultural and historic sites with each other in the county.  “Showcasing the area’s natural resources is an investment into both the economy and the well-being of its residents,” stated Ms. Steinert.

skoog_presentation.jpgThe Northwest Region Entrepreneurship Center presented a $5,000 Challenge Grant to Skoog Landscape & Design of Sterling & Chadwick, as part of the Illinois Opportunity Returns Program. This award, matched by the company, will be used for a marketing project that includes the development of a marketing video and a detailed presentation procedure that describes the company’s design/build process. This project will help the company increase and expand their customer base. The award presentation will be held on October 6th at the company’s Sterling office located at 2612 West LeFevre Road, Sterling. The telephone number at this office is (815) 626-4218.

ENTERPRISE ZONE EXPANSION

With the expansion of the Whiteside County Enterprise Zone, Sterling Multi-Products announced in June, 2008 that it would be investing of $850,000 for the construction of a new warehouse and raw materials storage facility at its plant in Prophetstown, Illinois.

The company, established in 1939, employs 65 people and manufacturers fabricated metal products. Their products and services include Multi Mixers, spinner heads, disposable medical instruments and contract manufacturing of metal products.

whiteside-fulton-retail.jpgThe Fulton Retail Development group recently began a second enterprise zone project in Fulton, Illinois.

The group dedicated to the restoration of Main Street buildings will restore the facade to its original appearance and upgrade the building so the owner can be assured of a safe and long-lasting building. The group was responsible for the earlier renovation of two buildings which were sold to May Mooc and her husband Sam Liang who operate the Golden Wok restaurant in Fulton.
